The Tower of London

The Tower of London

A fortress by the tidal river
grey stone by grey waters
under a grey sky

our eyes have grown old
examining your tower
your battlements
your history intact

the gate through which
traitors once sailed
to their death

or the green within
where local blood
was once shed

love has come and gone
deep affections have been
betrayed but

these stone cold walls
have weathered
the test of time

the ravens have yet
to bring misfortune
upon my house
