On such a glorious sunny day grace
to be born to know the hour and the day
the movement of the planets and the stars
the ecstasy of love
the constancy of friend-
ship and the beauty of the natural world
arrayed as it is in all its verdant glory.
No
need for movies or books or cribbage boards
I say to Patsy “Let’s get down to the river
or head up country” “into the wild woods.”
“You’re such a dreamer,” she says “you know
those places get overrun by people and bugs
on days like these.”
“This human universe
has a lot to learn about what constitutes
a bona-fide paradise.”
She can be such a downer.
