Are we far from the sea
       a child asks me
No
       I teasingly reply
the sea runs through us
       it is there in the salts
in our blood
       in our heart

And so it is –
       out of the sea
we emerged
       but the sea came forth
out of the sun
       our forebear
which in turn is but
       a tiny fragment of universe

We are not in the cosmos
       we are part of it
it runs through us
       we move through it
which is why every kiss
       is quantum loaded
and why lovers represent
       the sweetest alignment
of particles that exists
       now and for all time
