portraitinparisJohn Lyons is an Anglo-Irish poet, musician, teacher and translator living and working in London. He has for many years specialised in the study and translation of Latin American poetry. He is responsible for the 500-page translation of Cosmic Canticle, a poetic masterpiece by the Nicaraguan, Ernesto Cardenal, but has also translated texts by Neruda, Borges, Augusto Monterroso, and many others. He has translated separately the collected poems and the only novel by Harold Pinter into Spanish; and into Portuguese he has translated two plays by Samuel Beckett and two plays by W. B. Yeats. He has led numerous poetry workshops and is particularly interested in introducing young people to the creative possibilities of poetry. He may be contacted at irlandesuk@gmail.com.
