Moon River

Patsy bursts full throttle into the day
It’s 6 a.m. and already I hear
her in the shower singing Moon River
wider than a mile
                      She’s a bottle half-
full kinda girl  no two ways  Always has
a smile and a kind word on her soft red
lips  Moments later she appears wearing
a large bath towel  Come on lazy bones
she shouts  It’s a big blue day and sun is
in the air  Let’s go out and change the world
I pull the duvet over my head and
pray  Where are the rains of yesteryear I
sigh  Last night we strolled down by the river
The water was low
                          the sky full of stars
